Park Strip Replacement
Typically $1.25 – $3.00 per square foot
Most Davis and Weber County water providers
Replace the grass between your sidewalk and the street with water-wise planting and get paid per square foot.
- Apply and get approval before you remove any grass.
- Take clear before photos of the whole strip.
- Most programs require living plants covering a share of the area — gravel alone usually does not qualify.
- Sprinklers in the strip must be capped or converted to drip.
Lawn & Turf Replacement
Typically $1.00 – $2.00 per square foot
Statewide and regional water conservancy programs
Convert thirsty lawn anywhere in your yard to a water-wise landscape and claim a per-square-foot rebate.
- Pre-approval and a site inspection are usually required.
- There is often a cap per household, so plan the area you want to convert.
- Plans with a mix of shrubs, perennials and grasses score best.
- Keep receipts for plants, mulch and drip materials.
Smart Sprinkler Controllers
Often 50% – 100% of the controller cost
Many local water districts
A weather-based controller adjusts watering automatically and is one of the cheapest ways to cut summer water use.
- Controllers must be on the program's approved model list.
- Some districts hand them out free at seasonal events.
- Pair it with a rain sensor for the biggest savings.
Drip Irrigation Conversion

Swap spray heads for drip in planting beds so water goes to roots instead of pavement.
- Usually claimed alongside a turf or park strip conversion.
- Drip is required by most turf rebate programs anyway.
